A Unique Northwest Community

Bartimaeus Community at Meadow Wood Condominiums is a residential cohousing neighborhood located in the Pacific Northwest — Bremerton, WA — just across the Puget Sound from Seattle. Completed in 2006, it offers private home ownership in a community living setting.

With 25 single-family residences on an expansive 7-acre property, Bartimaeus exudes a private, old-fashioned neighborhood atmosphere, creating camaraderie and lasting friendships between its residents.

The vision of Bartimaeus Community is to create a safe and welcoming place where people can substantially grow into the whole, healthy, unique persons God intended.

Something interesting is always happening at Bartimaeus, from weekly dinners, evening prayer meetings, and making meals for the homeless to spontaneous get-togethers, home brewing, campfire roasts and kids playing in the central courtyard. The recreational, social and spiritual elements of our lives blend together easily, as each resident personally and uniquely determines the extent to which they would like to join in community life.

Individual home ownership, the extensive grounds and a diverse array of common-use amenities combine to provide an environment conducive to maintaining “private time” as well. From curling up with a book in the library, to gardening, walking along the secluded forest trails, or simply retreating to your condo, Bartimaeus presents many opportunities for rest and renewal.

Bartimaeus offers a welcome alternative to living in a typical condominium complex or on a residential street. By bringing the neighborhood closer to your doorstep, you easily feel a part of something bigger than yourself. Our lives are greatly enriched by having the opportunity to share our lives, interests and faith with one another in a safe, intentional community setting.
